Upper Arm Lift

Duration of the procedure:

1 – 2 hours per arm depending on the preoperative findings

Type of anaesthesia:

local anaesthetic plus a sedative, or general anaesthetic

Outpatient treatment

Saggy upper arms with excess skin, caused by a loss of tissue elasticity due to aging or weight loss.

In less pronounced cases only a small incision is made in the armpits to pull back and remove the excess tissue of the adjacent upper arms. In more severe cases an S-shaped incision runs from the armpits to just above the elbow. The scars lie hidden on the inside of the upper arms. After removal of the excess skin and the subcutaneous tissue below it, the upper arm is tightened and reshaped.

After the operation

  • Sutures are removed after 2 weeks
  • Post-surgical wound care (with scar massage und possibly self-adhesive silicone pads) begins after suture removal
  • Wear a support garment for 3 months
  • Avoid physical activities that strain your arms (especially raising your arms) for 3 weeks
  • Avoid sports involving the upper arms for 3 months
