Duration of the procedure:
upper lid lift 30 minutes per eyelid,
lower lid lift 45 minutes per eyelid
lower lid lift 45 minutes per eyelid
Type of anaesthesia:
local anaesthetic, possibly with a mild sedative
Outpatient treatment
Presentable
with sunglasses after 3 days, without sunglasses after one week (i.e. after suture removal)
Indication
Droopy eyelids or excess skin on the upper lids, puffy lower eyelid "bags", periorbital dark circles, wrinkles of the lower eyelids.
Operation
The excess skin on the upper eyelid is measured precisely. It is removed along with a narrow strip of muscle. In addition, apparent fatty tissue at the inner margin of the eye is removed. The incision runs along the natural crease of the eyelid so that it will be practically invisible later.
A lower lid lift can be carried out by means of an incision along the edge of the lower lid or in the mucous lining. The bulging fatty tissue that causes lower eyelid puffiness is positioned back into place and the excess skin is removed.
It is often advisable to combine an upper and a lower eyelift.
After the operation
- Cool the eye area
- Keep your head raised in order to reduce swelling
- Sutures are removed after 5 – 7 days
- Avoid strenuous activities such as sports for 4 weeks
