Botulinum toxin is a bacterial protein that is produced naturally. Upon injection a muscle by a medical expert, it directly blocks the local motor nerve impulse, preventing the muscle from contracting as usual. Other nerval functions, such as feeling and touch are not affected.

The effects are noticeable within 3 to 5 days and normally last for about 3 to 6 months. It is advisable to repeat the treatment at that point. As the muscle weakens, the length of the intervals between treatments steadily increases.

After the treatment

  • Cool the area lightly
  • You may apply make-up after 2 hours
  • Avoid lying down for 4 – 5 hours
  • Do not participate in sports on the day of the treatment
